Times Argus Music Review
"Finkelmeyer not only has an outstanding technique, but his playing is virtually without
idiosyncrasy, a well-blended amalgam of styles that can only be described as American."
"It was in the first part of the program that Finkelmeyer proved his mettle. In Three Novelettes by 20th Century French composer Francis Poulenc, he exhibited a refined expressiveness that made this the outstanding performance of the day. In Liszt's Dante Sonata he could have afforded greater extremes - softer tender passages and more passionate highlights. Nevertheless, the performance proved Finkelmeyer a virtuoso of both technical and emotional power. The second part of the program revealed the young pianist's diversity. American works by Gershwin, Leonard Bernstein & Gottschalk were all given heartfelt performances."
" Finkelmeyer played with that spark of true artistry. That non-definable spirit was there: the tone was beautiful." Irene A. Glasford - author Rhythm, Reason & Response |
"Chris Finkelmeyer is without a doubt the greatest talent I have had in twenty two years of
University teaching. He has no technical problems in his approach to the keyboard. He is a
natural pianist, a quality all child prodigies and most concert pianists are born with.
Furthermore he is a sensitive, intuitive musician who plays with subtlety and touches the hearts
of his listeners. His playing has flair and excitement and possesses a charismatic quality
which attracts an audience."

"I heard Mr. Christopher Finkelmeyer here at the International Busoni competition where he made a strong impression as one of the most gifted participants."
